Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 April 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Yigit Yilmaz ("we", "us") collects and uses information when you use the website at testcentres.ie ("Website") and the iOS application Driving Test Ireland ("App"). Together, the Website and the App are referred to as the "Service".
We are based in Dublin, Ireland. By using the Service you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. What we collect
1.1 The Website (testcentres.ie)
- Aggregate analytics via Google Analytics 4 and Cloudflare Web Analytics — pages viewed, referring domain, approximate location at country level, device type, browser. None of this directly identifies you.
- Outbound click events when you click the App Store link to download our App. We track that the click happened (with the page it came from) but no personal identifier.
- No user accounts are required, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personal information directly through the Website.
1.2 The App (Driving Test Ireland)
- Location data — when you record a practice drive, the App captures your GPS path while the recording is active. This data is processed on your device for route detection and performance analysis. Location is only collected while a recording session is active and only with your explicit permission.
- Subscription status — managed by Apple's StoreKit. We receive only the anonymous transaction status (subscriber / non-subscriber). We do not receive your Apple ID, email, payment details, or billing address.
- Anonymous usage analytics — we use industry-standard mobile analytics (such as Apple's analytics framework or third-party SDKs) to understand how features are used. These are aggregate counts (e.g. "X users played back a route this week") and do not identify individual users.
- Crash and diagnostic data — anonymous device information used to fix bugs (e.g. iOS version, device model, the screen where a crash occurred). Apple may share this with us if you opt in via iOS Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Improvements.
2. How we use the information
- To operate the Website and the App and provide the features you request.
- To analyse and improve the Service — which guides are useful, which features are popular, where users encounter difficulty.
- To process subscription transactions through Apple's App Store.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising-based profiling.
3. Third-party services
The Service relies on the following third parties, each with their own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymous web analytics. Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and privacy-respecting web analytics. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Apple — App Store distribution, subscription billing, and platform analytics. Apple Privacy Policy.
- Central Statistics Office (CSO) Ireland — public driving-test statistics (no personal data is exchanged). CSO Data Protection.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The Website uses cookies set by Google Analytics 4 (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) for measuring visitors and session activity, and may use cookies set by Cloudflare for security and performance. Cookies are not used to identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the Website continues to work without them, with reduced analytics on our side.
The App does not use cookies on your device.
5. Data retention
- Website analytics — retained by Google Analytics 4 for 14 months by default, then automatically deleted.
- App practice drive recordings — stored locally on your device. We do not upload them to our servers. You can delete them at any time within the App.
- Subscription records — retained for the duration of your active subscription plus a reasonable period for accounting and dispute resolution.
6. Your rights under GDPR
As an EU/EEA resident, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including:
- Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — correct any inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure — request deletion of personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Right to object to processing for analytics purposes.
- Right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ireland (dataprotection.ie).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below.
7. Children
The Service is intended for users aged 16 or over (i.e. people of an age to be eligible for an Irish learner permit). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
8. International data transfers
Some of our service providers (Google, Cloudflare, Apple) operate globally and may process data in jurisdictions outside the EU. These providers maintain data-protection safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure equivalent protection of personal data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent changes. Material changes will be highlighted through the Service or notified via the App Store description.
